Recipe Tips
- Personalize Your S'more
This classic s'more recipe is delicious as is, but you can change up the flavour by adding one or more of these ingredients. Does peanut butter sound good? Spread the bottom wafer with creamy peanut butter and/or jam before topping with the chocolate. Feeling like sweet and salty? Place a pretzel twist or potato chip on the warm marshmallow before covering with the second wafer. Cocolicious yum! Top heated marshmallow with toasted coconut or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon before covering with the second wafer. Feeling like fruit? Place a layer of strawberry, banana or apple slices on the bottom wafer before topping with the chocolate. Bacon lover? Place a piece of cooked bacon on the bottom wafer before topping with the chocolate.
- Serving Friends or Family
To make up to 4 s'mores using either your oven or outdoor barbecue, place the assembled s'mores, with sides touching, on the baking sheet for the oven or a large sheet of foil for the barbecue. Wrap the s'mores in foil if using the barbecue. Continue as directed. To prepare up to 4 s'mores in your microwave, place the chocolate-topped wafers in a single layer on a large microwaveable plate. Microwave on HIGH 30 sec. to 1 min. or until chocolate begins to soften. Top with marshmallows, then microwave 30 to 40 sec. or until marshmallows begin to puff. Cover with remaining wafers.
- Marshmallow Toasting
These s'mores can instead be prepared using marshmallows toasted over a campfire or fire pit. Or, the marshmallows can be toasted over a burner set on low on your stove. You can also use your outdoor gas barbecue to toast the marshmallows over low heat until desired doneness. For a charcoal grill, allow the coals to cool until fully covered with ash. Use a long handled cooking fork to skewer each marshmallow, then hold it about 3 inches over the heat source to toast the marshmallow to desired doneness.
